Read more...300 SRT8 - Turbo and TH400 Build
Vehicle: Chrysler 300 SRT8 - Turbo build
Story:
This 300 belongs to David R. He came to us wanting to take his build to the next level. He always enjoys standing out and being different. But at the same time he want something that is functional, reliable, and will perform.
He previously had a P1 Procharger blower running e85 at High boost. While running that setup he already hurt his trans.
So the decision was made that he wanted a transmission that can handle any beating he threw at it. The most common trans for that job would be a th400. Being a modern Mopar, it will require some custom fabbing and pieces to make sure it bolts up correctly.
On top of the fact we are going to beef up the trans, David wanted a little more power as well. His blower was pretty much tapped out. That being said the next piece of the puzzle will be throwing in a Borg Warner S475 turbo. To really Maximize the potential of this setup, David opted for the optional 4" downpipe. Of course this was going to be a fun challenge as the 300 sits on air ride where half the time it is so low the ground the frame scrapes. We needed to make sure that the downpipe would clear with no issues.
With the help of Bretsen's Transmission Adapters we were able to fit up the TH400 with no issue. The turbo kit produced fit nicely around the newly mounted trans and everything was good to go. On top of that we now had to install the new shifter assembly which also was a challenge because the TH400 shifting linkage runs opposite of what the stock 300 assembly did. But it wasn't that much of a challenge for us.
Once we got all that installed it was time to address the driveshaft. The length that it required made it difficult to get a 1 piece shaft in place. But with the help of a lot of measuring and Driveshaft Shop's expertise we were able to mate up the 1 piece carbon drive shaft.
